1) Cam Stand Video   For most cam measurements, the Cam Test Stand measures lift, Duration, acceleration rates, etc.  However, it does not know how the cam gets installed in the engine, so the actual timing (centerlines, opening and closing events, etc) are based on what the user tells the program about the #1 Cylinder's Intake lobe's timing, like #1 Intake has a 108 centerline.  The Cam Test Stand's optional Universal Flat Follower lets you measure the dowel pin or keyway location on the cam.  Knowing how these are timed in the engine, it is now possible to know how the cam will be timed in the engine.

If you measure production cams, this method can work well with some experience.  If you are measuring aftermarket or racing cams, this likely will not work well.  Those cam grinders expect the engine builder to check and adjust the cam timing once it is in the engine.

2) Spring Wiz Update  Two months ago we released an update to our popular Spring Wiz software.  Well like usually happens, the first users found a couple of bugs we missed.  We're now up to version 1.1 B.005.  If you own the new v1.1B, we suggest you get this FREE update.  Install the latest version from the link below right over the top of your existing version. (We recommend you restart your computer and go directly to link below.  Some computers will not allow you to update your program if you have run the program since you last restarted your computer.)

to download the latest v1.1 B.005.

When asked during the installation, select to do a Refresh installation instead of a Complete (typical) installation.  Once installed, click on Help (at the top of the main screen), and then select About...    The new version number (written in blue) should now be 1.1 B.005.

If you missed some newsletters and didn't know about this major update, here's more info.
